This project aimed to better understand the context and lived experiences of adolescents living with HIV (ALHIV) in South Africa. The target group were adolescents living with HIV aged 10-19 years in South Africa. This work was commissioned to inform the South African Medical Research Council's Social Impact Bond programme, which focuses on HIV interventions to support adolescent girls aged 15-19 years in South Africa. This project was a collaboration between the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and the University of Cape Town’s AIDS and Society Research Unit. It was funded by the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC). Dissemination of findings was supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the UK Medical Research Council (MRC), and the UK Department for International Development (DFID) under the MRC/DFID Concordat agreement.
