The #ZikhalaKanjani Youth Prevention Strategy targets the prevention of HIV, AIDS, TB, and STIs among Adolescents and Young People (AYP) in South Africa. Special emphasis is placed on the impact these diseases have on Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and the need for their active participation in response efforts. The strategy was developed by young people for young people to ensure ownership and acceptability through allow young people to have a voice and be at the centre of coming up with solutions to what affects them. Launched by the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC) in collaboration with provincial AIDS Councils (PCAs), government departments, and civil society organizations, this strategy succeeds the "She Conquers" initiative. It integrates health and social services with youth development programs and emphasizes social and behaviour change communication. Implemented from 2022-2025, it aligns with South Africa’s National Strategic Plan on HIV, TB, and STIs 2023-2028.
