The purpose of the visit was to update the embassy on the work of UNFPA in South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, Botswana, and Eswatini and to thank Denmark for being the 4th overall donor to UNFPA in 2018 and 3rd core donor, with support to UNFPA increasing over the years. During the visit the UNFPA Representative acknowledged their extensive support to UNFPA, and East and Southern Africa particularly, including to the She Decides Flagship event held in Pretoria last year and to the first ever Menstrual Health Management Symposium held in Johannesburg last year.
After sharing of information on key programmes activities during the interactive visit, it was agreed that UNFPA and Denmark would continue engaging on areas of mutual interest and strengthen the engagement and collaboration to improve the lives of young women and girls in South Africa.
